Information for Organisations and Workplaces

In this section we’ve brought together practical, actionable ways organisations can better support people who are in their final phase of life, caring for someone who is or grieving the loss of a loved one.
Everyone deserves dignity, care and compassion when they are in their dying phase, or grieving. How we treat people who are dying and grieving is a reflection of who we are as a society.

Hospice New Zealand is helping amplify this discussion, because supporting people to die well and to grieve well is not just a matter for families and healthcare – it’s something every workplace and organisation can contribute to.

The need for these resources came about as a result of Dying Reviews.  This world-first rate and review platform invites reviews from New Zealanders who are dying, caring for someone who is, or someone who has lost a loved one to reflect on how they were treated by the everyday systems that surround us – from energy providers, banks and insurance companies, to employers, public services and even gyms.

We review and design for every other part of our lives - why not this one? DyingReviews.org Read the first 500

Read the First 500 Reviews here. Some of the reviews are confronting. Others are unexpectedly hopeful. All are a powerful reminder that everyone deserves dignity, care and compassion in their dying phase.

Here are some practical examples as well as links to training resources to help organisations better support people who are terminally ill, caring for someone who is or in bereavement.

Our wish is to see improved death and dying and grief literacy across our workplaces and organisations in order to ensure people feel less burdened with bureaucracy and more cared for as humans.
