"This post graduate certificate in Health Science has significantly and positively impacted my role as Clinical Lead for Allied Health. Without the support of this BNI scholarship, I do not think that I would have had the opportunity to take on further post graduate opportunity. My wish and responsibility is to further learn and deepen professional knowledge to help improve or expand palliative care practice in Aotearoa for the benefit of patients and whanau." - Clarice Chung, Clinical Lead for Allied Health.
"I am indebted to BNI for the scholarship which supported my attendance at an international conference plus workshops, related to my specialist area of Clinical Aromatherapy in Palliative Care. For 4-days I was immersed in the latest clinical aromatherapy advances in healthcare, gaining a global perspective in the aromatic management of patients with life-limiting illness and those in the oncology setting. I was able to speak with leading authorities in this field, participate in open discussions, as well as sharing innovative ideas. I've returned brimming with new ideas and fresh perspectives for patient and family care. It has also enabled me to start working on a series of educational programmes for healthcare professionals to integrate aromatherapy practices safely into the palliative care setting. A fabulous opportunity. Heartfelt appreciation to BNI." Carol Rose, Clinical Aromatherapist, Educator & Author.
"The course, Psychological Well-being in Organisations, has equipped me with the necessary knowledge on how to improve psychological well-being in a workforce by bringing benefits to both individual employees and the hospice as a whole. All our staff and volunteers are constantly helping people who are experiencing much emotional distress at their end of life’s journey. As this is a very demanding and stressful job, it is important to create a healthy and stress-free environment for all our staff.
In order to meet the evolving NZ palliative care needs of patients and their family, it's critical to promote professional development. I would like to take this opportunity to thank BNI New Zealand for providing hospice staff with this invaluable opportunity." Anjalee Pieries, Operations Manager.
Applications are now closed for 2024. They will re-open for the 2025 scholarship programme in October 2024.
