Syringe Driver Awareness Course for Health Care Assistants

Syringe Driver Awareness Course for Health Care Assistants

This course supports healthcare workers who care for people receiving palliative care, in aged care, at home, in hospital, or in hospice.

It combines online learning, reflection activities, and a hands-on workshop to help build confidence in caring for someone with a syringe driver.

Syringe drivers are small, portable devices that deliver medicine comfortably and continuously for people who are unwell.

This course helps Health Care Assistants understand how they work and how to care safely and compassionately for those who use them.

A heartfelt thank you to all those who contributed to the course development, including our hospice teams, aged care partners, and palliative care experts across Aotearoa.
