Harcourts Foundation Supports Hospice Care Across Aotearoa with Over $31,000 in Grants
Hospices across Aotearoa New Zealand will be able to provide enhanced comfort and care for people at the end of life, thanks to more than $31,000 in funding from the Harcourts Foundation.
This year, 11 hospices received a combined $31,065.63 to purchase specialised equipment such as pressure-relieving mattresses, syringe drivers, ceiling hoists, lightweight wheelchairs, and essential medical equipment used for in-home and inpatient care. These items play a crucial role in ensuring patients remain comfortable, supported, and able to make the most of their remaining life.
Bryan Thomson, Managing Director of Harcourts New Zealand, says the funding is about more than a donation - it’s a commitment to compassionate care:
“Supporting hospice care is about more than just funding equipment. It's about standing alongside families during some of life’s most challenging moments. Every grant represents our commitment to dignity and compassion for people at the end of life. We are proud to help Hospice NZ continue their vital work because caring for our communities is at the heart of who we are.”
Wayne Naylor, Chief Executive of Hospice New Zealand says the continued generosity of the Harcourts Foundation is deeply valued:
“Specialised medical equipment is essential to providing quality hospice care – whether helping to manage symptoms, reduce discomfort, or support people to remain at home. We are deeply grateful for the continued generosity of the Harcourts Foundation whose support makes a real difference for people and their whānau-family across the country.”

The Hospice NZ Grants Programme, funded by the Harcourts Foundation, is the Foundation’s largest annual charitable commitment. Since the partnership began, nearly $400,000 has been distributed to hospice services from the Far North to the Deep South, helping ensure people can receive the specialised equipment and compassionate care they need to live every moment in a way that is meaningful to them.
