After much consideration the Hospice NZ Conference Organising Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the Palliative Care Conference planned for August this year.
This decision has not been taken lightly by the team. We appreciate the ongoing support from everyone after our 2020 postponement and for those who took the time to complete our second round of abstracts just recently.
When we considered the risk of another COVID related lock down in Auckland, the location for the Conference, we were concerned about the significant financial impact of any last minute cancellation on Hospice NZ and also delegates and their employers who had committed to attending.
We discussed the option of going virtual but felt that this wouldn’t capture the heart and soul of a Hospice NZ Conference that we know you all appreciate and enjoy. Therefore we have made the tough decision to cancel this years event.
We are encouraging people looking for a Palliative Care focused Conference opportunity to look at both the Oceanic Palliative Care and Asia Pacific Conference both of which are virtual.
For those who submitted an abstract, thank you, it is not too late to submit your abstract for consideration for the Oceanic Palliative Care Conference which has a NZ/Pacific focus. Click here for more info.
In terms of future Conferences we are looking into options for 2022 and will announce dates and location as soon as we are able. Thank you in advance for your understanding as we all continue to navigate life in these times of COVID-19.
