Hospices are part of a changing health sector that must adapt to meet growing and changing demand. In order to prepare for the change and the opportunities it presents, Hospice New Zealand has established the Equity & Sustainability Pathway (ESP) Project. This Project is overseen by a working group made up of eight nominated hospice representatives. The group has a sector mandate to work in partnership with Hospice New Zealand.
In responding to the health reforms, the ESP Project has three main areas of work to ensure a more equitable and sustainable future for hospice services.
- Designing an equitable, sustainable, national funding model for hospice services
- Co-designing an associated commissioning framework
- Providing oversight for pay parity initiatives
