West Auckland Hospice provides palliative care services to people with life-threatening illness in the West Auckland region. Its population-base is 180,000 and it cares for about 430 people each year.
It provides services and visits people in their homes, hospitals, private hospitals and rest homes throughout West Auckland, as well as providing a range of day activities - called Pathways Programmes - which patients and their families/whanau can attend.
West Auckland's aim is to enhance and affirm the quality of life by relieving physical pain and any emotional or spiritual concerns and to help patients and their families/whanau cope with end-of-life issues.
