Hibiscus Coast Hospice provides a free home-based palliative care service available to residents in its area, which extends from Puhoi south to Redvale and Army Bay west to the Kaipara Harbour, and includes the Orewa, Red Beach, Silverdale and Whangaparaoa communities.

It serves a population of 50,000 and cares for 160 people a year. In late 2007 it opened a purpose-built facility in John Dee Crescent, Red Beach, and aims to offer 24/7 care by September 2009.

Hibiscus Coast Hospice provides a full range of services, from pain control and symptom relief, free loan of equipment, trained volunteer support in the home, night nursing, social, emotional and spiritual support to the patient and family and ultimately bereavement support. It runs various support groups and has a resource library.

Weekly support groups include Stepping Stones for the bereaved, Daybreak for patients and caregivers, the Us Group for children living with someone who is terminally ill plus an art group and tai chi.

North Shore Hospice is the specialist centre for palliative care for the 450,000 people of the Waitemata District. In addition, North Shore Hospice is the community hospice for the 230,000 people of the North Shore.
Its free service is offered to those who have a terminal illness and their families. Its community support service consists of a multidisciplinary team including doctors, nurses, counsellors, social workers and a chaplain.

It supports its community service with a 14-bed inpatient facility, day care and an equipment loan service. As a specialist centre, it carries out a range of district and internal education and research and has connections with the major tertiary institutions.

West Auckland Hospice provides palliative care services to people with life-threatening illness in the West Auckland region. Its population-base is 180,000 and it cares for about 430 people each year. 
It provides services and visits people in their homes, hospitals, private hospitals and rest homes throughout West Auckland, as well as providing a range of day activities - called Pathways Programmes - which patients and their families/whanau can attend.

West Auckland's aim is to enhance and affirm the quality of life by relieving physical pain and any emotional or spiritual concerns and to help patients and their families/whanau cope with end-of-life issues.

Warkworth Wellsford Hospice serves the north Rodney community through 24-hour, seven days per week, at home, palliative care and support services. It is proudly part of the North Shore Hospice Trust with access to the 14-bed inpatient facility for respite care, symptom control or terminal care.
 
It has a fully trained counsellor for counselling and bereavement support. Family support volunteers are also available to go in to patients' homes to provide support when needed. It also loans equipment free of charge.
