Social Worker - 15 - 20 hours per week

North Haven Hospice is a diverse, innovative organisation providing a range of health and social support services to palliative care patients and their families/whanau in the Whangarei District and wider Northland region. Our patients are people of all ages, from infants through to the elderly, who have a range of terminal illnesses.

We are looking to create a dedicated part time Social Work position to work with patients and families both at the Hospice In patient unit in Tikipunga and in the community. You will enjoy working in a challenging but rewarding environment and being part of a values based multi disciplinary team, committed to the provision of Specialist Palliative Care and liaising with other agencies.

You will hold a recognised Social Work qualification and have had a minimum of 2 years experience; preferably in a health related sector. A Class B driver’s license is essential.

Experienced Palliative Care Nurse - 0.8 FTE Rostered Shifts - IPU

We are seeking a highly motivated nurse who has a passion for palliative care to work in our In Patient Unit. North Haven Hospice is the specialist hospice centre for Whangarei and the wider Northland region.

You will value teamwork and the contribution of the multidisciplinary team. You will have a minimum of two years experience either in a hospice or haematology/oncology or community nursing setting, and be willing to undertake ongoing education in palliative care. Financial assistance provided.

Waipuna Hospice Inpatient Unit

Registered Nurses - day, evening, and night shifts

Hospice Eastern Bay of Plenty

Palliative Care Nurse (hours negotiable full time/part time) - Whakatane

Hospice Eastern Bay of Plenty provides a community-based palliative care service to the Eastern Bay of Plenty. It is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated registered nurse to replace one of its existing staff members. This role also includes shared on-call duties for week nights and weekends. This position is suited to mothers who need flexible working conditions to suit their busy lifestyle and enjoy the benefits of working in a small, friendly, supportive team environment.

The applicant will be energetic, flexible, and motivated and the type of person who intuitively knows how to respond to a variety of situations. Their communication style needs to be clear, open, and friendly with the ability to relate well with clients and other health professionals. The successful candidate will have a clear commitment to patient-centred holistic care in accordance with the hospice philosophy guidelines.

An understanding of palliative care, comprehensive assessment skills, and the ability to advise on symptom management are key components of this complex and challenging role. Liaising with other health providers is an integral part of this role and is essential for patients' smooth transition between primary, secondary, and tertiary services.

The successful applicant will be a registered general or comprehensive nurse with experience or an interest in palliative care. Remuneration will be based on experience and Hospice EBOP is open to this being a developmental role. There is an expectation that post graduate studies in palliative care will have been undertaken or will be started as part of this role.

Community Palliative Care Registered Nurse

Waipuna Hospice

Palliative Care Specialist/Medical Director

An exciting co-appointment opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Medical Specialist to lead the medical service at Waipuna Hospice and to provide consultancy advice and education for Physician colleagues at the Bay of Plenty District Health Board.

Waipuna Hospice is the sole provider of community palliative care in the rapidly growing Western Bay of Plenty and just completed an expansion to increase its services to a 12 bed inpatient unit.

This position would be a co-appointment working 0.7 FTE at Waipuna Hospice and 0.3 FTE for the Bay of Plenty District Health Board based at Tauranga Hospital.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide clinical leadership for the Medical Service at Waipuna Hospice
  • Direct and coordinate the provision of patient care and support
  • Develop education initiatives
  • Build positive relationships with secondary services and the wider community
  • Provide high quality specialist consultation and advice to inpatients and outpatients
  • Work closely with other palliative physicians and colleagues in the Regional Cancer Centre (Waikato) to ensure there is peer support and review

Essential Qualifications/Experience:

  • Registered as a Medical Practitioner by the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • Eligible for registration or already vocationally registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a Specialist Palliative Physician
  • Member of the Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent
  • Relevant experience in palliative care

Our Palliative Care team at Counties Manukau District Health Board is looking for a suitably qualified Consultant to join their multidisciplinary team.

This role will be based at Middlemore Hospital as well as working within the community units at Pukekohe and Waiuku. Our passionate team aims to provide excellent care to the community of South Auckland which has a diverse and growing population of 450,000.

Registration with the NZ Medical Council as a palliative medicine specialist is essential.
