Otago Community Hospice provides specialist palliative care to terminally ill patients in the Otago region. The hospice works closely with specialist clinicians in the hospitals and GPs to offer places on its programme for as many terminally ill patients as possible. 

The hospice's community palliative care team works in Dunedin and around north, central and south/west Otago. The team comprises doctors, nurses and social workers/counsellors who support about 300 terminally ill patients and their families.

Otago Community Hospice has a 12–bed inpatient facility offering care for symptom control, respite care and terminal care. It also provides a day care service and outpatient services are offered at the hospice and from Oamaru, Dunstan and Balclutha Hospitals. The hospice also works closely with rural hospitals in meeting the needs of terminally ill patients and their carers in rural Otago.

Counselling is another service provided to patients and their families.
