Serving a population of 46,000, Marlborough Community Hospice covers Blenheim, Picton and the Marlborough Sounds. The purpose-built four-bed inpatient facility opened for service delivery in November 2003 with community palliative care, including assessment/care co-ordination and domiciliary care starting in 2005.
The Salvation Army is the contracted service provider while the Marlborough Hospice Trust owns and is responsible for costs associated with the service and facility.
Nelson Hospice serves a population of 90,000 in the Nelson and Tasman Districts and includes Murchison,Golden Bay, Motueka, Nelson and Richmond through to the Whanagamoa saddle.
Nelson Hospice offers seven inpatient beds, a specialist medical team, palliative care community nurses along with social work, counselling, bereavement,spiritual support and volunteer support . Residential aged care and rural areas are supported by specialist liaison nurses.
