House of Travel

Since 2005 each of the 90 House of Travel outlets around the country have been working with their local hospice.  Each of their 1200 staff members get a paid days leave to volunteer for hospice as well as the many ways they work raising funds for their hospice.

House of Travel Scholarships

Each year two scholarships enable fundraisers to undertake further study or to attend conferences in Australia or New Zealand. 
In 2006 Phil Burt from Arohanui Hospice travelled to the Fundraising Institute Australia conference and Heidi Hennessey from Nurse Maude Hospice in Christchurch undertook further fundraising study.
In 2007 Vincent Maire & Diana Fabish both attended a week long intensive training course at Auckland AUT click here to read their thoughts.

House of Travel Volunteer Award

Volunteers are the heart of hospice and each year we recognise two outstanding hospice volunteers thanks to these awards.  Nominated by their hospice each winning volunteer receives a trip for two to the Gold Coast, as a little "thank you" for all their dedication to our work, courtesy of House of Travel.

In 2006 Jeanette Ray from Waipuna Hospice in Tauranga & Dorothy Stanton from Nelson Region Hospice were our inaugural winners you can click here to read their story.

Robin Hood Social Hero Award

We were delighted House of Travel were awarded the inaugural Prime Minister's Social Hero Award in 2007.  It was a wonderful way for House of Travel to be acknowledged for their commitment to hospice.  Click here to read the full story. 

Hospice t-shirts

To raise awareness of hospice House of Travel designed a fabulous range of high quality t-shirts for both their staff and the public to wear.  Up to $10 from the sale of each t-shirt is donated to hospice, to see the range click here

Embrace Award

This annual award recognises the partnership between a local HOT outlet and their hospice - a partnership who truly embraces the concept of working together.

The inaugural winner was Dennis Payne and his team from HOT Orewa in 2006 seen here with Mary Schumacher CEO of Hospice New Zealand.
