Otago Community Hospice provides specialist palliative care to people with a life limiting illness in the Otago region. There is no charge for our services.

Most of our care is delivered in the community, whether that is in the patient’s home, a care facility or a rural hospital. Our community care teams (based in Dunedin, Cromwell, Balclutha and Oamaru) provide:

1. Specialist assessment and advice to patients, family/whanau and health professionals.
2. Care coordination and monitoring patient needs: working closely with a patient’s GP, district nurse and other care professionals. 
3. Support to the family/whanau in their bereavement.
4. Night care service which can provide overnight care for a short period, helping people remain cared for in their own home
5. Education and support to the public and health care professionals.

For those whose needs are complex or who’s families need respite, admission to the hospice inpatient unit can be arranged.
