The Rotorua Community Hospice service has been providing specialist palliative nursing care for people with a life limiting illness who choose to die in their own home since 1984.  We cover a population of over 75,000 residing in Rotorua and surrounding Lakes District.    Our services are available free of charge, on a 24 hours a day, seven days a week basis.    Care and support includes patient and whanau/family consultation and assessment involving GP’s, Hospital, rest homes specialists and other associated health providers. Grief and bereavement support is a part of the community nursing service with a weekly day-stay programme, personal care from trained Health Care Assistants and specialist equipment loan when required.

Lake Taupo Hospice  provides support for those with a progressive life limiting illness and their family/whanau within the greater Lake Taupo District.  We strive to be a centre of excellence providing the highest quality services.

  • The nursing team provide care coordination, expert advice, support, education and night nursing. A Medical Palliative Specialist visits monthly. The Counsellor and Bereavement team provide care throughout the journey and after a loved one has died.
  • Volunteers provide home visiting, massage, biography writing, beauty-therapy, hairdressing, podiatry, transport, gardening, equipment delivery, and home-baking/meals.

All our care is centered around  the Hospice philosophy of ‘Living Every Moment’.

Arohanui Hospice serves a population of 160,000 with 11 hospice beds and a team of more than 200 volunteers who support the hospice services. There are five palliative care co-ordinators caring for people in the community and also a hospital liason team at Palmerston North Hospital.
