The Canterbury DHB and Nurse Maude have a position for a Palliative Care Specialist. The Canterbury DHB in New Zealand in collaboration with Nurse Maude provides specialist palliative treatment, support and advice to patients and their families/whanau. We work together along with other highly-skilled interdisciplinary health professionals to provide an intergrated palliative care service across the Canterbury region.

We presently have a vacancy for a Palliative Care Specialist Physician who is eligible for registration with the Medical Council of NZ. This position holds a primary responsibility for the inpatient unit (Nurse Maude Hospice) but will provide support for the community and hospital services.

At Hibiscus Hospice we provide specialist palliative care for those in our community who are affected by life limiting illness, and support for their families.
Due to a relocation, we currently have a position available for a part time interdenominationally capable chaplain, who will provide support to patients and their loved ones, act as a spiritual counsellor to staff and as spiritual liaison to the community.
Hours are anticipated to be 20-25 per week for an 11 month term (until January 2013) with the possibility of extension.
The chaplain works closely with our family support team comprising of a counsellor and social worker - and also with our clinical team.
The primary responsibility involves 'being there' for patients during the course of their illness and supporting those left behind for a short while, in bereavement .

The Otago Community Hospice has a great opportunity for an energetic Palliative Medicine Specialist looking to take on a leadership role. The Medical Leader is one of three Clinical Leaders at the Otago Community Hospice comprising the Clinical Governance Team, which is responsible for the clinical management of patients and families on the Hospice Programme throughout Otago.
Thisposition offers extensive teaching opportunities at an undergraduate level and in teaching and mentoring at a postgraduate level. Involvement in research is actively encouraged.
The Otago Community Hospice has established a full time registrar position and is looking for medical practitioners interested in palliative medicine for six to twelve month posts.
The position is suitable for advanced training in Palliative Medicine with the RACP Chapter of Palliative Medicine. National LCP Facilitator – Part Time (0.6FTE)
The National LCP Office NZ was established in November 2008 to coordinate the sustainable implementation of the LCP programme in NZ. The National LCP Office NZ is managed and hosted by Arohanui Hospice in Palmerston North and works in collaboration with the LCP Central Team and Marie Curie Palliative Care Institute Liverpool (MCPCIL) in the United Kingdom (UK).
The National LCP NZ programme is focused on improving the care of the dying in New Zealand.
Arohanui Hospice is currently seeking applications for the part time position of LCP Facilitator to coordinate and support the development and implementation of the LCP programme nationally.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of the LCP programme and its implementation and above average education and training skills and abilities. In addition, the successful applicant will have excellent communication and organisational skills, a sound knowledge and understanding of palliative care and be highly motivated.
